Log Jam Chinking
When other chinking pulls away, Log Jam holds its seal.
No matter what it encounters—wind, rain, sleet, sun or snow, Log Jam chinking effectively holds its seal. Log Jam chinking keeps your home comfortable while keeping the weather where it belongs—outside. Log Jam chinking is the elastic sealant that handles joint movement up to 100%—even in joints up to 4" wide—while maintaining its original appearance. With superior adhesion and elasticity, Log Jam chinking is guaranteed not to crack, tear or peel away from logs. Plus, it's the only chinking to hold a UL one-hour fire rating: when applied in accordance with Fire Resistance Directory Design No. UL519.
Water Resistance: forms a water resistant skin in 1-4 hours after application. This resistance depends on bead size, humidity, and temperature. If applied in cool or humid weather and rain is imminent, covering the chinking with a plastic sheet may be necessary.
Service Range:-30 degrees to 250 degrees
Paintability: Paintable with oil or latex stains after one week cure time. Verify compatibility of finish with chinking prior to application. Compatible with most sealers and preservatives, including linseed oil, borates, pentachlorophenol and copper compounds. NOTE: Coatings that contain wax or other chemicals may make adhesion difficult. Cure through time: 3 weeks (1/2" thickness, 70 degrees, 50% relative humidity)
Freeze-thaw: At least 5 cycles (0 to 70)
Tack Free Time: Less than 30 minutes (70 degrees, 50% relative humidity)
Snow: Be cautious of areas where snow builds up around the structure and remains for extended periods of time. Snow removal is recommended for these areas to ensure the ultimate adhesion of Log Jam.
