Osborn Brushes 80grit
Osborn Buffing Brush
Abrasive nylon cup brushes are heavily filled with round or rectangular nylon filaments. Filaments are flexable, allowing each filament to move over the surface being smoothed. So, rather than just the tip of the brush being used, as with wire brushes, the entire filament can make contact with the surface being worked on. Each filament works like a tiny flexible file sweeping across surfaces and conforming to edges. Filaments are impregnated with Silicon Carbide grit, ideal for surface finishing of logs as well as deburring of metal parts. Available with round or rectangular filament configurations. The shape of the filament determines how much contact the abrasive grains make with the work area. Round filaments make less contact than rectangular, so they are less aggressive. Brush selection is critical in optimizing your work production. Rather than increasing brush pressure and speed, it is more efficient to use a more aggressive brush. It will use less power and give longer brush life.
Maximum RPM 6000.. (try at +/- 1500 rpm). Maximum RPM is not the recommended operating speed. Usually the optimum RPM is less than half of the Maximum. Often, slower RPM can be more aggressive than faster speeds.
6" brushes works best on a 7"-9" Variable Speed Sander/Polisher. Can be used with air tools.
Threaded for 5/8-11NC (Standard on most North American variable speed sander/polishers).
Note: Bristles will flare out when in use and can reach in and clean notch areas. Also great for reaching the "lateral" area where one round log sits upon another.
Can also be used on automotive engine blocks, cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, transmission housings, water pumps and intake manifolds, hydraulic valve bodies, pump gears and all sorts of similar type stuff. Even used to prep the bed of a pickup prior to applying a spray-in type bed liner. Can be adapted for use on CNC machines.
